Belgian Grand Prix qualifying: Max Verstappen fastest but Charles Leclerc to start on pole

Race qualifying and practice updates results stream highlights at Spa-Francorchamps

Max Verstappen has taken the fastest time in qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix, but it is Charles Leclerc who will start on pole position for Sunday's race.

The Red Bull driver was 0.014 seconds faster than Leclerc's Ferrari in the final qualifying session, but Leclerc had set a time good enough for pole on his first run and was able to hold on to it.

It is Leclerc's seventh pole position of the season and the 18th of his career. He will be joined on the front row by Verstappen, with Sergio Perez in third and Lando Norris in fourth.

McLaren, who brought circuit-specific upgrades to Spa-Francorchamps, looked strong throughout qualifying. Norris was fastest in the first session and second in the second, while Oscar Piastri was third in the final session.

The Belgian Grand Prix is one of the most iconic races on the Formula 1 calendar and is always a thrilling spectacle. The race will start at 3pm BST on Sunday 27 July.
