INDIANAPOLIS - For the first time in franchise history, the Indiana Fever received the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft. Three-time AP All-America First Team selection Aliyah Boston of South Carolina tonight was selected by the Fever.

The 6-foot-5 center out of Boston, Massachusetts was a key piece of the back-to-back national championship Gamecocks squads in 2022 and 2023. Boston was the 2023 consensus National Player of the Year and the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year. She is also the all-time leading rebounder in South Carolina women's basketball history.

"Aliyah is a special player and we are thrilled to add her to our team," said Fever head coach Marianne Stanley. "She is a force on both ends of the court and we believe she has the potential to be one of the best players in the WNBA."
