Its Time To Get Election Ready

It's Time to Get "Election Ready"

Oakes Encourages Voters to Prepare for 2023 Municipal Election

Tuesday, September 12 is Election Day in the Northwest Territories

The 2023 Northwest Territories municipal election is just around the corner, and Elections NWT encourages voters to get “election ready” by making sure they are registered to vote and know where to cast their ballot on Tuesday, September 12.

All eligible voters should have received a voter information card in the mail. This card provides important information, including the voter’s registration status, polling station location, and advance polling dates and times.

Voters who have not received a voter information card or who have questions about their registration status can contact Elections NWT at 1-800-661-0512 or visit their website at www.electionsnwt.ca.

To be eligible to vote in the Northwest Territories, you must be a Canadian citizen, 18 years of age or older on Election Day, and a resident of the Northwest Territories for at least 12 months immediately preceding the date of the election.

There are three ways to vote in the Northwest Territories municipal election: in person at a polling station, by mail, or by proxy.

In-person voting will take place on Tuesday, September 12, from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm at designated polling stations across the Northwest Territories.

Mail-in ballots must be received by Elections NWT by 8:00 pm on Election Day. Mail-in ballot packages can be requested from Elections NWT by calling 1-800-661-0512 or visiting their website.

Proxy voting allows a voter to appoint someone else to vote on their behalf. Proxy voting forms can be obtained from Elections NWT by calling 1-800-661-0512 or visiting their website.
